A second workshop &study visit was organized in Madrid Spain on 28-29 March 2017, as part of the transnational project Strengthening multidisciplinary cooperation to ensure an effective referral, assistance, rights protection for victims of human trafficking, JUST/2015/JACC/AG/VICT/9221, financed by the European Commission, Justice Program.
The workshop &study visit, was organized by Association Trabe and had a multi-disciplinary approach reuniting Spanish, Romanian, Belgian, Bulgarian, Swedish legal, social and health professionals (lawyers, prosecutors, police officers, legal counselors, social workers, psychologists, THB researchers & experts, NGOs representatives).
The event had an interactive approach allowing participants to exchange information on strategies to combat human trafficking, assistance services for victims, national/transnational cooperation on THB cases. The first day thematic focused on legal framework to combat human trafficking; police strategies and coordination in THB cases; the specialization of Spanish lawyers through training supported by local Bars Associations (as the Madrid Bar); analyze case studies. As part of the second day participants learned about the identification procedures of THB victims in Spanish borders and the collaboration with social entities from origin countries; the international protection, asylum procedures and its relation to victims of human trafficking, psycho-social intervention models.
The event benefited from the participation of relevant Spanish stakeholders such as the Public Prosecutor Office, National Police – UCRIF (Central Unit against Immigration Trafficking Networks and Illicit documents), Civil Guards Force – Central Operative Unit, Madrid Lawyers Bar, UNHCR-Spain Office, ACCEM, Cruz Blanca Foundation, Pablo de Olavide University.
